This Hofer mart is situated between a commercial area to the west and the residential area of Völkermarkt to the east. The building is one of the first new Hofer supermarkets that was equipped with the characteristic “luminous” projecting roof.
The construction volume results from the ideal connection of retail and storage space. The eye-catching, extensively projecting roof at the entrance appears as a smooth white surface that turns into a luminous element at dusk.
The projecting roof protrudes from one corner of the building and - spoken in urban development terms - forms a counterpart to one of the most important junctions of the town.
In order to emphasise the effect of the luminous roof, the remaining elements were kept simple. In this sense, the only interruption of the front is a raised strip of ribbon windows.
